Local Police officers are begging residents to stop confessing to crimes they didn't commit. The strange phenomenon began after a viral trend on social media encouraged people to share their secrets and admit to things they have done.
However, many took the trend too far and began confessing to actual crimes they had not committed. This left the Police in a difficult situation, as they had to spend time investigating false confessions, wasting resources and taxpayer money.
"We appreciate the honesty, but we don't need people admitting to crimes they didn't commit," said Police. "It's causing confusion and chaos in our department."
The police department has even started a campaign encouraging people to only confess to actual crimes they committed and not just for the sake of social media attention. "We want to keep our community safe and our officers' workload manageable," the Chief added.
In the meantime, the police officers are urging residents to think twice before jumping on the latest viral trend. "It's one thing to share your secrets, but it's another thing to make false confessions," the Chief warned. "Please, for the love of all that is holy, stop admitting you did it if you didn't actually do it!"
