A 13-year-old boy had to be rescued by firefighters after getting stuck inside a claw machine while trying to win a stuffed animal.
According to witnesses, the boy climbed into the machine through the prize dispenser in an attempt to reach the stuffed animals at the back of the machine.
"I was so disappointed," the boy, who wished to remain anonymous, said in a statement. "I thought for sure there would be some cool prizes back there, but all I found was a bunch of old gum."
The incident caused quite a stir in the small town, with many residents coming out to watch as firefighters worked to free the boy from the machine.
"It was quite a scene," said witness Susan Johnson. "The whole town turned out to see what was going on. I think we were all hoping for a happy ending."
Fortunately, the boy was rescued without incident and emerged from the machine unharmed, albeit a bit embarrassed.
"I just wanted to win that stuffed animal for my girlfriend," he said. "I didn't think things would go so wrong."
Despite the disappointment, the boy's bravery and determination have earned him the respect of many in the community.
"He's a real go-getter," said neighbor Tom Smith. "I'm sure he'll go on to do great things, even if he has to climb into a few more claw machines along the way."
