Sheriff's Deputies Place Turtles in Roads as Part of Traffic Enforcement.

Boyle County Residents were surprised to see turtles crawling around in the middle of the road. At first, they assumed it was just a strange coincidence, but then they realized the Sheriff's deputies were behind it.

According to the Sheriff's Department, placing turtles on the road is a new traffic enforcement tactic. "We figured if drivers had to swerve to avoid hitting a turtle, they would slow down and pay more attention to the road," said the Sheriff.

But some residents are concerned that the turtles are being put in danger. "I saw a car almost hit one of the turtles; it was really scary," said local resident Lisa Smith.

The Sheriff insists that the turtles are not in danger and are being returned to their natural habitat once the traffic enforcement is complete. "We're doing our part to combat speeding and keep our streets safe," he added.

However, not everyone is convinced. "This seems like a harebrained scheme if you ask me," said local business owner Tom Johnson. "Why not just enforce the speed limit with radar guns like everyone else?"

Despite the mixed reactions, the Sheriff's department says they plan to continue placing turtles on the road as part of their traffic enforcement efforts. "We're always looking for new and innovative ways to keep our streets safe," said the Sheriff.

But as for the turtles, they may be feeling a little shell-shocked by all the attention.
